Darren Cockburn & Jonathan Chant warmly invite you to this ‘Authentic Writing Through Mindfulness’ day retreat to be held at the beautiful The Retreat New Forest on Saturday 2nd May between 10am and 4pm. The venue provides a retreat from life’s hectic pace, in the heart of the New Forest. Local to Brockenhurst Station and within easy access from London. It’s an ideal location for a day retreat; highly conducive to learning and creativity.

We welcome people onto the retreat whatever their level of experience of creative writing and mindfulness – from absolute beginners to those with experience or training.

Meet the Teachers – Darren Cockburn


The author of two acclaimed mindfulness books that are published and distributed all over the world by global publishers Findhorn Press & Inner Traditions. The books are endorsed and supported by internationally leading teachers including Esther Ekhart (founder of leading yoga training organisation) and Steve Taylor (ranked 20th most living spiritually influential person in the world by Watkins Mind Body Spirit).

Drawing upon over twenty years of mindfulness and meditation experience, I’ve enjoyed training and coaching people from organisations of all sizes including personal 121 sessions, British Wheel of Yoga teachers, Buddhist centres, and people working at all levels in corporate businesses. Recently Kindred Sprit, the UK’s leading Mind-Body-Spirit magazine nominated me for the 2019 “emerging voices” award.  

Meet the Teachers – Jonathan Chant

jonI’m a renowned poet with 25 years experience of teaching writing at all levels. My writing has been published in Obsessed With The Pipe Work, Tears In The Fence, Caduceus, International Times and Ink, Sweat & Tears.

The author of The Great Quest Of Celtic Mystery an account of my escapades in Ireland and a memoir, Every Stick And Leaf. I’ve also published a collection of poems titled Waltzer Heart.

A graduate of the University of Southampton, I’ve taught courses in Creative Writing for the Open College of the Arts and Academic Writing at the University of Southampton. I enjoy sharing and reading my poetry to audiences at venues around the UK.
